Teach Me to Pray
What if the secret to living a truly godly life was not about trying harder, but about plugging into a power source that is already available to us? That is exactly what 2 Peter 1:3-4 invites us to explore. These verses reveal that God's divine power has already given us everything we need for a godly life, and that this power flows through an intimate, experiential knowledge of Christ. The Greek word used here is epignosis, a deep, personal, abiding knowledge that goes far beyond head knowledge or religious routine. Just as a lamp has the capacity to illuminate an entire room but is useless when unplugged from the wall, we too have access to extraordinary spiritual power that remains untapped when we are disconnected from our source. The disciples understood this. Before they ever asked Jesus to teach them how to preach or perform miracles, they asked Him to teach them how to pray. They had watched Him retreat to solitary places before dawn, and they recognized that His public power was rooted in His private communion with the Father. The same invitation stands open for us today.
