The God Who Answers by Fire

The story in 1 Kings 18:20–40 takes us to Mount Carmel, where Elijah confronts the prophets of Baal. After hours of calling out to their God without an answer, Elijah steps forward and prepares his own altar. He even has water poured over the sacrifice before praying to the Lord. What happens next leaves little doubt about who the true God is.

Pastor Travis uses this encounter to urge us to look at the things we depend on more than God. Success, money, relationships, and even the desire to control our circumstances can become idols when they take His place in our lives.

The message also points us to Jesus and the cross. We don't have to work harder or prove ourselves worthy of God's attention. Christ has already paid the price for our sins. Like the people on Mount Carmel, we're called to stop wavering, surrender what we've been holding on to, and fully trust Him.
